It’s become a tradition for major paint companies and design influencers to choose a color dedicated to the year. Over time these Color of the Year choices have influenced product development and purchasing decisions throughout various industries, including fashion, home furnishings, industrial designs, as well as product packaging and graphic design. After careful thoughts, considerations, and trend analysis, let’s get to know the 2020 Colors of the Year;

“We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on. Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue of evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.” – Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Behr 2020 Color Trends palette was inspired by natural elements such as sky, earth, water and plant life. Seasonal changes and world exploration also play a role in how we relate to color. Each hue was selected to work well alone or in combination to create a unique look for your home and style. Benjamin Moore chose a fresh palette of ten harmonious hues to deliver modern paint color pairings that combine optimism with understatement. With a revitalized spirit and a soft, rosy hue blooming with potential, Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2020 is First Light 2102-70.

Setting themselves apart, PPG Paints has chosen a Core/Relation color trend for their 2020 color collection. Solidifying their choice with an affluent shade of black with blue undertones, PPG has named Black Flame PPG1043-7 their official Color of the Year. Black creates the silence we crave in an information-heavy world, while the indigo offers possibility and a deep hopefulness.
